In diesem Vortrag wollen wir einen Überblick über die gesetzliche und gesellschaftspolitische Situation von Abtreibung in Lateinamerika geben. Die Entwicklung der Abtreibungsgesetze soll vor dem Hintergrund der politischen Veränderungen betrachten werden.
Ein besonderer Augenmerk soll einerseits auf dem Einfluss von religiösen Organisationen zuletzt auch auf die Gesetzgebung und andererseits auf den feministischen Bewegungen, die die Diskussion um Säkularisierungmit ihrem Kampf um reproduktive Rechte verbinden, liegen.

In this talk we would like to provide an historical background on the development of the Abortions law in Latin America in its juridical and social-political spheres as a result of the political history of the Continent. The struggle for the reproductive rights in Latin America is an emblematic case to understand how the feminist movement has headed the discussions on secularization of the State after the Military dictatorships that ravaged Latin America in the 60s and 70s. During the re-democratization process, the feminist movement started the discussions on secularization of the States focusing to support the struggle for the reproductive rights and the pro-choice organizations. The religious answer was under law and consisted of religious lobbies inside of some latin american parliaments in attempt to approve laws to protect life since its conception in uterus. In this context, the dispute over the secularity of the Latin America States is strongly linked to the feminist struggle for reproductive rights in the Continent.
